James F. Roberts

James F. Roberts is the president and chief executive officer of Foundation Coal Holdings, Inc., and also serves as a member of its board of directors. From January 1999 to July 30, 2004, Roberts was president and chief executive officer of RAG American Coal Holding, Inc., the predecessor company to Foundation Coal. Prior to joining RAG, Roberts was president of Coal ARBED International Trading from 1981 to 1999, chief financial officer of Leckie Smokeless Coal Company from 1977 to 1981 and vice president of finance at Solar Fuel Company from 1974 to 1977. Roberts is the vice chairman of the National Mining Association, a director of the Center for Energy and Economic Development and a member of the executive committee of the National Coal Council.
